Maya is a professional photographer with a specialization in natural light. She has authored a variety of photo essays including “Liquid Struggle” and "Black Boy." Maya has also worked as a photographer and photo editor for USA Today, the New York Times Institute and the Howard University Hilltop Newspaper. She is currently the owner of III Eye Digital, LLC, a photography, graphic and web design company. The photography currently is a part of Maya's ongoing "Liquid Struggle" series taken in the U.S., Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, India and Nepal.

This Limited Edition Photograph is the image of my hand holding the main gate key to the Usher Fort slave prison at James Beach in Accra, Ghana. It represents the fact that our generation now has the key; our ancestors were imprisoned here, but now we have the key…so lets "exit".
